“Sharon is uniquely qualified to lead Portland and Multnomah county out of the persistent crisis of homelessness, substance abuse, and mental health care. Her credentials as an MD, emergency physician and JD are ideal for this critically important job, and her smarts, pragmatism and engagement are beyond exemplary.

I have had little faith in the previous approach of just throwing money at this complex problem, and it is absolutely clear that did not work at all. The solution is a multidisciplinary, intelligent, and comprehensive systematic creation and funding of essential building blocks for enduring solutions that are financially viable. I have not seen wise use of resources in the past two decades in this county but trust Sharon with fiscal discipline and accountability of how tax payer's money is best spent and invested.
